A1 Technologies, the makers of The RapMan, an inexpensive 3D printer kit targeted at the educational market, recently won the BETT award in the  Digital Devices category for their Bits From Bytes kit. The BETT Awards recognize “the best in educational technology solutions”.

The Bits From Bytes “complete” kit is priced at £750.00 and is available at their website. However, it appears demand is high, since they warn of a “current 5 week order time”. It seems that MakerBot isn’t the only 3D kit manufacturer swamped with orders.

  1. The RapMan 3.1 3D printer is manufactured by Bits from Bytes (BfB) at its factory in Clevedon, North Somerset. It is in fact a development of RepRap, which was conceived at Bath University and BfB were the first to market a complete set of parts based on the RepRap project. Bits from Bytes were also the first to offer a 3D printer for less than Ā£1,000.

RapMan 3.1 won the Digital Devices Award at the BETT Awards, the education ā€œOscarsā€, which celebrate the best and most innovative technology solutions available for school classrooms worldwide. Bits from Bytes worked closely with education professionals to ensure the machine was as pupil-friendly as possible. A1 Technologies are a valued outlet for the product.

We are now well advanced on producing an affordable, preassembled 3D printer for the commercial and hobby market. To keep up to date on the latest information see our website http://www.bitsfrombytes.com.
