Boing Boing reports on an amazing 3D printed kite. Well, the kite wasn't completely 3D printed - instead just the numerous connectors were. They were used to connect carbon fiber rods to form the strange looking craft. While the kite looks incredible, it didn't fly very well, at least as far as we can tell in the video.
Likely the flight problems were due to a poor weight to lift ratio, as the air-catching coverings are small compare to the amount of frame. Nevertheless, we appreciate the radical design. No progress occurs without experimentation.
