You might guess from the name of the “Portabee” that its unique feature is that it’s portable. And you’d be right.
The Portabee is a RepRap-derived plastic extrusion personal 3D printer, sold in kit form for the definitely low price of USD$499.
You’ll need 3mm filament to use the Portabee, and you’ll print into a 120 x 120 x 120mm build volume.
The most interesting feature is portability, which is accomplished through two design features: the frame “simply clips on and off”, significantly reducing the size. Secondly, the power supply is external: a laptop power supply. Breaking down the 2.8kg (6.2lbs) Portabee lets you easily fit it into a laptop bag for easy transport.
