Industry giant Stratasys just reminded us that it’s actually been ten years since they introduced a low cost 3D printer to the world. The term “low cost”, is of course, relative. At the time 3D printers were industrial behemoths costing major dollars. The Dimension introduced in 2002 cost just under USD$30,000, enabling many small businesses to get into the 3D printing game.

Today we see another revolution, where the price has similarly dropped – and dropped so much that individuals can now easily own a 3D printer in their homes. Progress!
