Printing a Buckliball?

Printing a Buckliball? We’re always fascinated by those gift cards that pop up into ingenious 3D structures when you open them up, but could something like this be done in 3D? It turns out you can with a new design called the “Buckliball”.
The Buckliball is a sphere that can grow or shrink by twisting its form in a 3D manner. You’ll have to watch the video at the site below to truly understand what that means.
An interesting design, but could a Buckliball be 3D printed? We’re imagining a complex design involving hinges, perhaps, or printing with a soft material that could flex in the required manner. Are you up to this modeling challenge?
