UK-based iMakr has opened a retail storefront in the deep south of Manhattan. Now New Yorkers can see a variety of 3D printers in the flesh.

Building on their success in London, iMakr has opened a second outlet based in the heart of New York City at 152 Allen Street. This week the store opened to the public and while we were not able to attend in person, we understand quite a crowd gathered.

We think this is an important milestone, as iMakr is an independent retail 3D printer store, where devices from many vendors can be inspected and purchased. MakerBot also has a 3D printer store in Manhattan, but it (obviously) presents only MakerBot equipment. Curiously, MakerBot’s store is located a mere 12 minute walk away.

iMakr showcases MakerBot gear, too, as well as 3D printers from 3D Systems, Flashforge and Solidoodle. They also sell 3D prints, accessories, supplies, training and even provide a basic 3D printing service for those requiring a quick print.

If you’re interested in looking at 3D printers, it makes sense to check out iMakr; they have a spectrum of equipment you’ll be able to see in action.
