When there’s an important date, people like to celebrate. In the USA on this July 4th artist Don Foley is celebrating by giving away an incredible multi-part 3D model.
Foley has produced numerous interesting 3D models you can purchase and download – and we must say they’re definitely worth the price – but this time he’s giving away a very special model. It’s a four-piece miniature model of the Ellis Island Customs House. This is where, in the 19th and 20th centuries, immigrants to the USA first arrived. There, they began their lives in the new world, often taking new names to coincide with their immigration.
The 3D model is downloadable at no charge and includes not only STL for the various floors of the building, but also OBJ and associated MTLs.
You’ll need to run four rather long prints to produce the parts needed to assemble the Custom House. Foley points out that the floors are so large you may have extreme difficulty removing them from your print bed. We recommend you print the pieces with one of these; it would be trivial to remove the print.
