An Introduction to Support Structures

We’ve found a terrific introductory video explaining the reasons for use of support structures when 3D printing.

Those new to 3D printing may not realize they’ll likely be printing more than just their desired object. In many cases they’ll have to print support structures to ensure the object’s integrity.

We could go on to explain it all, but instead we’ll refer you to a great video produced by 3DP Unlimited that explains the requirement for using support structures. The video is specific to their 3D printing equipment, but the concepts are useable by all plastic extrusion-based 3D printers.

We understand 3DP Unlimited intends on producing similar videos for different aspects of 3D printing. We can’t wait to see them.
