Objet has announced a rather interesting new 3D printer, the Alaris 30 Desktop 3D Printer. The key features are:

  • 30x20x15cm (11.81 x 7.87 x 5.9in) build chamber
  • 600x600x900 dpi resolution, typically 0.1-0.2mm accuracy
  • normal office or home power
  • desktop format
  • 36 hours of continuous unattending printing
  • UV light curing during printing for immediate results
  • Gel supports are easily washed away
  • Multiple items can be built during one print run
  • Clean, with sealed cartridges
  • VeroWhite FullCure 830 material (opaque white) only
  • Smooth finish, no extra finish work required

We have to say this is a very interesting 3D printer indeed. Rumor has it the pricing is in the USD$40,000 range, which is a bit more than our desktop can support.
