Objet, makers of the Polyjet line of 3D printers, have introduced “Castaldo®’s VLT™ [Very Low Temperature] molding rubber”, which should greatly simplify the making of jewelery prototypes. The new material should permit the creation of jewelry molds in “as little as one hour”.

The advantage of the rubber is that it cures at a low temperature that does not damage the pattern, and thus jewelers can bypass several of the traditional steps to produce prototypes.
