Polymaker has made an unusual step by opening an EU online store for their consumer 3D printing products.
The company has recently been beefing up its now powerful direct-to-consumer webshop in a number of ways. They now offer highly sophisticated online tools to select materials and especially colors. That’s become important since the company now offers, gosh, who knows, 200 colours? It’s hard to keep track — and therefore hard to navigate through their catalog, hence the need for advanced tools.
Previously, Polymer’s products were sold in the EU through an extensive network of resellers. That will apparently continue, according to Polymaker, but now there is the addition of the online webshop.
Polymaker explains:
“The expansion reflects Polymaker’s long-term investment in Europe’s thriving 3D printing ecosystem. By offering direct access to its advanced material solutions, including engineering-grade, eco-conscious, and specialty filaments, Polymaker continues to support innovation across industries ranging from prototyping and manufacturing to education and creative design. Customers can now browse the full Polymaker product lineup, access detailed technical specifications, and purchase directly through the official webshop.”
It is also possible that Polymaker needs to get their advanced webshop tools out front in the EU market to leverage their power. The resellers usually have their own webshops that do not have the advanced features, and they are very unlikely to build them on their own.
Here Polymaker is able to get the advanced function to buyers without waiting for resellers.
Part of the move is that there will be shipping direct from the EU to EU locations, and that will shorten the time for delivery that EU buyers had experienced, if they were buying direct from Polymaker instead of a local reseller. That will no doubt benefit resellers as well, who will be able to receive shipments faster from Polymaker.
However, resellers may not be too happy about this development, as it is possible they may lose some customers to the official Polymaker webshop. On the other hand, we have no idea what arrangements are being made with Polymaker resellers behind the scenes.
Nevertheless, EU buyers can now order Polymaker materials and products directly from Polymaker using their advanced buying tools.
