It’s true – Instructables user graphmastur has designed a RepRap-style 3D printer entirely out of LEGO parts. While he was obviously unable to attach a high-temp plastic extruder, he has included a common Sharpie marker pen instead. This enables the LEGO 3D printer to operate as a pen plotter. Why is graphmastur doing this? He’s entered in a contest to win an actual 3D printer (MakerBot Thing-O-Matic). While the output quality of this device is somewhat questionable due to the bendy lego parts, it does actually work, as you’ll see in the video. We’re wondering what graphmastur will be able to do when he gets his hands on a real 3D printer after creating this incredible piece out of common LEGO.
