EOS’ INTEGRA P 450 Builds Up Industrial Polymer 3D Printing

EOS North America has released its newest industrial 3D printer: the INTEGRA P 450.

Like the INTEGRA P 400 before it, the 450 is a mid-to-high-temperature SLS system built to meet customers’ expectations.

Scalable, flexible, and open platform, the new system is designed “to easily scale and bridge the gap, from R&D and prototyping, to serial production,” as EOS North America COO David Leigh explains.

Building For Users

A key tenet to each equipment introduction from EOS comes well before any parts are put together: it starts with listening.

As EOS execs have told us consistently, including in a recent chat with new CEO Marie Langer, “communication is key.” She noted that the company would even be bringing its customers into internal strategy meetings; that’s how vital listening is. It’s a critical throughline of strategy, naturally including for this latest release. Leigh put it quite simply: “Our customers spoke, and we listened.”

So it seems that what customers want is a flexible polymer system that can meet a variety of needs.

INTEGRA P 450 Specs

Features on the INTEGRA P 450 are upgraded from its predecessors’ and include processing temperatures of up to 300°C, an 8-zone quartz heating system, and improved thermal uniformity. EOS notes:

“Its future-proof, modular design, that includes an exchangeable optics tray and build volume, was created with extensive input from service professionals in order to enhance serviceability and reduce downtime. The innovative platform also integrates a thermal imaging camera that provides real-time thermal analysis of part beds and recording of the entire build.”

And:

“Increased productivity also comes by way of new plane segmentation capabilities, allowing for different layer thicknesses ranging from 0.10 mm to 0.18 mm per layer within a single part. The segmentation functionality also enables the splitting of a part along a plane so it can be shifted in z-level to define part segments with different exposure requirements for quality and productivity. This means engineers can define segments based on the need for quality or speed and assign optimal machine parameters.”

  • Laser Type: CO2 120 W (70 W available upon request)

  • Building Rate: 25 mm/hr. (typical) Layer thickness (depending on material) capability from 0.10 mm to 0.18 mm per layer

  • Scan Speed during build process: up to 12.7 m/s (500 in/sec) sky-writing

  • Power Supply: 240 VAC, 3 Phase / 40 A – peak operating current 30 A

  • Dimensions (W x D x H): 2.08 x 1.32 x 2.46 m (6.83 x 4.33 x 8.08 ft)

  • Recommended Installation Space: min. 4.6 x 4.1 x 3.3 m (15 x 13.50 x 11 ft)

  • Software: EOSPRINT 2

Optional features include:

  • Exchangeable frames

  • Exchangeable laser window units

  • Additional multibox feed system units

  • Reduced build volume adaptor (currently under development)
