With 4K screens the norm nowadays, you would think there are many an option for portable 4K displays.

Well, there are. There are just a couple of problems. First of all, there are a lot of options. Second, the combo of 4K, touchscreen, and features means a price point that skimps on one or the other.

The Lumonitor brings the best balance we’ve found among portable 4K displays with the widest range of applications from coding and CAD to streaming and gaming, at a price-point that, while higher than some, is reasonable for what you get.

Best Portable 4K Display for Price/Features

The Lumonitor was built as a portable 4K touchscreen display that balances price and features to connect to almost any device you own. Smartphones, game consoles, desktops, laptops, tablets, and even other Lumonitors can all be connected to the screen to extend 4K viewing whether at home, in the office, or out and about. While we’ve not had much use for 4K on the go, using it between the office and the house to extend laptop real estate and office 4K monitor makes for a smoother, uninterrupted workflow.

Among our favorite features that set this apart from other portable 4K displays is the high 183 degree viewing angle, anti-glare/anti blue-light/flicker-free filtering, and a 100% sRGB color range.

Connectivity Options

You can connect a multitude of devices using the monitor’s built-in 2 USB-C ports, HDMI port, and micro USB port, (with a 3.5mm jack for audio). While the number of ports isn’t exactly staggering, the wide variety of connectivity options lets you plug and play any device instantly.

Response Time

The connections are extremely responsive. Despite the larger resolution, the Lumonitor has a <10ms response time to cut down on lag. While we don’t need the frame rate in CAD apps that we like for gaming, the capability is just as important. The display aso comes with options to adjust screen contrast, color, brightness, and viewing mode.

Light AND Slim?!

As for the monitor’s measurements, it’s one of the thinnest and lightest with a 15.6-inch 4K UHD display, a total weight of 1.6 lbs (580 g), and a thickness of only 6mm (.236″). This makes it slimmer and lighter than just about any tablet (or laptop) out there, with the only difference is the larger thickness to accomodate the multiple connection options.

Besides the occasional blast of intensely cool product design and technology, we look at what’s going on in the world of 3D, add a splash of business insight and web tech into the mix and there ya got your SolidSmack.
