Creality has opened a retail store in Los Angeles.
This is not the first retail store for the company, but it is believed to be the first one in the West. It’s actually a pop-up store located in Century City, and will be open until December 26th.
This pop up store is no doubt an experiment by the company to see if they can attract buyers from passersby in the busy shopping area. It’s also carefully timed to be at the peak of the holiday buying season.
Creality describes the setup as an “interactive space offering a relaxed environment”. They want visitors to experience the “joy of making”.
While that may sound kitchy to Fabbaloo readers, the magic of being able to create something from your imagination remains an incredible experience for those new to 3D printing. It looks like Creality wants to focus on that magic moment to persuade people to buy their first 3D printer.
It seems that Creality is going all out on this venture, providing snacks, photo ops, giveaways, and live demos to visitors. It might not look at all like an Apple Store, but the functional goals are the same: introduce people to entirely new concepts in a comfortable space.
Creality describes this as a “pilot project”, and that might suggest they could develop more permanent retail stores if they succeed. It’s likely that the company will learn a great deal about retail in the West by doing this relatively inexpensive experiment.
Apple did much the same thing many years ago. They lit up a single store and tuned their method, but once done they replicated it worldwide. Could Creality be thinking of doing something similar? Would you be surprised to see a Creality Store in your local mall next year?
