This week’s selection is the Stackable Beer Crate Battery Storage by Thingiverse contributor YK42.

This is an amazing collection of storage boxes for household batteries of all sizes. The battery formats available in the collection include:

  • AAA
  • 9V
  • C
  • AA
  • CR123
  • LR44
  • CR2477
  • 21700
  • D
  • CR2450
  • CR1620
  • 357
  • CR2032
  • LR54
  • CR1632
  • LR41
  • CR2430
  • CR2025
  • CR2016
  • LR48

That has to be every reasonable battery size you might even encounter. Now there’s a complete collection of custom-sized and labelled boxes to store them— in miniature beer case replicas.

I’ve tried a number of battery storage designs and found few of them to work properly, but this one seems different. At the very least, this approach will cover all my battery needs, and likely yours as well.

There is an interesting history to this design. It’s the end result of a series of 3D model remixes, made possible by the licensing of the original model. The beer crate design was first developed by Marzochi, and then made stackable by TontoTraveler. YK42 added the labels and expanded the list of supported battery formats.

Even better, these can be printed easily without the need for support structures. I’m going to print a bunch of these right away, and you might consider doing the same.

Note: the identical model has been uploaded to Printables as well.
