Where is the best location to buy a Bambu Lab 3D printer? We found out.
You can buy a Bambu Lab device from their online store, Amazon, or any number of regional resellers. It’s basically a geography game, where you tend to buy from the most local source.
However, last week when analyzing Bambu Lab’s recent summer sale, I found some interesting differences between the different country stores on the Bambu Lab site.
If you are at Bambu Lab’s online store, you’ll see the price of the machine, but it’s also based on your location. The page automatically figures out your location and then assigns the appropriate country store. The price appears in the correct currency and very likely will be shipped from distribution centres in that area.
But there are some differences. For example, if you take the price of the new Bambu Lab H2D device for each of the different country stores, you see this:
COUNTRY | PRICE | CURRENCY |
US | 1999 | USD |
EU | 1899 | EUR |
UK | 1599 | GBP |
Canada | 2599 | CAD |
Australia | 2999 | AUD |
Japan | 399800 | JPY |
Korea | 3499000 | KPW |
That doesn’t tell you much, so let’s convert all these different currencies into USD:
COUNTRY | PRICE | ALL USD | COMPARE |
US | 1,999 | USD | 100% |
EU | 2,226 | USD | 111% |
UK | 2,193 | USD | 110% |
Canada | 1,900 | USD | 95% |
Australia | 1,959 | USD | 98% |
Japan | 2,765 | USD | 138% |
Korea | 2,565 | USD | 128% |
Now we can see that the least expensive country to buy the H2D would be Canada, followed by Australia. Interestingly, the prices vary considerably through the different regions, with the highest being Japan.
What about the other equipment from Bambu Lab? I put together a sheet with a basket of typical 3D printers from Bambu Lab and compared the prices. The equipment in my basket included:
- H2D
- X1C
- X1C Combo
- P1S
- P1S Combo
- A1
- A1 Combo
- A1 mini
- A1 mini Combo
I’ll spare you the lengthy spreadsheet, but there were definitely some patterns present. I averaged all the price differences to the US price throughout all the models and found this:
COUNTRY | AVG PRICE |
US | 100% |
EU | 108% |
UK | 105% |
Canada | 83% |
Australia | 91% |
Japan | 113% |
Korea | 105% |
It seems that it pays to be a Canadian if you are buying Bambu Lab equipment. Or at least until the currencies fluctuate again.
Another question worth looking at here is whether the recently applied tariffs have had some effect on pricing in the US. To analyze this, I averaged the non-US prices and compared them to the US price for each model. I came up with this:
MODEL | AVG PRICE vs US |
H2D | 113% |
X1C | 108% |
X1C Combo | 106% |
P1S | 101% |
P1S Combo | 101% |
A1 | 92% |
A1 Combo | 97% |
A1 mini | 90% |
A1 mini Combo | 99% |
Interestingly, the newest machine, the H2D, seems to carry (mostly) a higher price outside of the US. The professional machines, the X and P series, are slightly higher on average outside the US. However, the low-end A series is lower than US pricing, with the A1 mini being on average 90% of the US domestic price.
While there are clearly differences in Bambu Lab pricing between countries, it really doesn’t make much difference in practical terms: you almost certainly will be purchasing the items in your own region.
