Take the Train from Shapeways

Shapeways, that upstart 3D print service that seems to be everywhere these days has another set of fans: model railway builders. A recent blog post on the Shapeways blog tells the tale of how they were contacted by Dutch specialist train builders who wanted to “test whether 3d printing could be a feasible option for all model train hobbyists”.

It seems that their test was successful, as Shapeways was subsequently invited to participate in Eurospoor 2008, a model train convention. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of 3D train fabbing, and it won’t be the last.
