There are a great many Fab Labs in the world doing great things, but there’s one that you might want to support: the Ouaga Lab.
It’s an existing small Fab Lab in the city of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso in Africa, where members can gain rare access to making equipment such as 3D printers. There, people can not just make things but create new businesses from scratch.
From its current temporary location, the lab is developing an expansion that will include the critical element of co-space, where newly-hatched businesses get their first start. It’s in these inexpensive co-spaces ventures can begin at low cost; in many cases there are no space alternatives and these businesses never get off the ground.
They’ve identified a space behind the international airport that is to be refurbished by local tradespeople into the new co-space. They require only a small amount of money to get the job done and have launched a crowdfunding campaign to do so. They’re almost there but have only a few days left to hit their goal.
