3D printed Spray Paint Gun [Source: MakerWorld]

This week’s selection is the Spray Paint Gun by MakerWorld contributor AverageBeardedGeek.

This is exactly what it seems to be: an attachment for standard-sized paint spray cans to create a trigger. Pull the trigger lever, and the can will spray.

The benefit is that it is a bit easier to aim the spray, as it is less clear where exactly you’re pointing a standard spray can.

Another benefit is that you don’t get stray paint on your fingers, which normally touch the top of the can. Here any leftover paint lands on the spray gun attachment.

The model is easy to assemble, requiring only six bolts. AverageBeardedGeek doesn’t indicate the specific type of bolts required, but from the looks of the design, almost anything that fits will work just fine.

For operation, the spray can is inserted from the bottom, and then one bolt is tightened to hold it in. This means that you can swap cans easily without having to disassemble – reassemble the entire gadget.

Anyone using spray cans might benefit from using this design, especially 3D printer operators that frequently paint prints.
