Erik’s Wedding Topper

Erik’s Wedding Topper Netherlands-based personal fabrication researcher Erik de Bruijn recently got a chance to link his research area with personal life by creating a wedding cake ornament on his 3D printer for his own wedding!  The project involved searching Google 3D Warehouse (unsuccessfully), preparing a 3D model (available on Thingiverse) and printing both pieces (bride and groom in white and black respectively) on Erik’s RepRap printer. The entire process involved open source software, hardware, licensing and designs, thus fully qualifying as the “Open Source Wedding Cake Topper Project.
Erik describes the entire process (including a great video of the printing process) on his blog. And congratulations, to you, Erik!
