3DPrinterOS and Polymaker announced a very intriguing deal for materials.
If youāre not familiar with 3DPrinterOS, you should be. Itās one of the largest and most powerful cloud services for managing fleets of 3D printers. Basically you link your 3D printers to the 3DPrinterOS cloud, and that allows you to perform a wide range of functions. These include not only job setup & slicing and job dispatch, but also live job monitoring, file management, multiuser management & permissions, job queues and much more. They also provide integrations with Prusa, Bambu Lab and Ultimaker equipment, and Tinkercad software.
3DPrinterOS has been quite successful, and today boasts an amazing 300,000 users including 6000 organizations.
Polymaker is the well-known provider of perhaps the broadest range of 3D print materials. In my visits with Polymaker recently Iāve seen well over 150 different colors of PLA, for example. In fact, the last time I asked them for an official count it seemed that they have so many colors they donāt even keep track anymore.
The deal between the two provides a significant discount for material purchases. 3DPrinterOS explains:
āThis collaboration will allow customers of 3DPrinterOS to receive up to a 30% discount on all Polymaker materials, making high-quality 3D printing more accessible and affordable to a broader audience.ā
That could be quite a saving for 3DPrinterOS operators, some of whom operate large fleets of 3D printers consuming considerable amounts of filament.
Consider the following scenario: an organization has 23 3D printers, each consuming a 1kg spool of material, every three days. In a month, this operation would require 230 spools. At US$22 each, that would total a monthly material charge of US$5,060. With a maximum discount of 30%, that would be reduced to US$3,340 ā saving US$20,640 per year.
Thatās enough to buy several additional 3D printers.
Meanwhile, the filament from Polymaker is top quality and one of the best on the market. That complements their wide variety of products.
However, to get this deal you must be a subscriber to 3DPrinterOS. While the company many years ago offered free services to those with a single device, today they have only a 14-day free trial before paid service commences.
Their current subscription rates are based on the number of 3D printers connected to the service. The charges seem to be about US$9.50 per printer per month (paid annually), and they offer plans for 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10 devices.
Thatās actually a pretty good deal for those printing frequently. For US$22 spools, a 30% discount of US$7.25 per spool, almost the cost of the monthly 3DPrinterOS solution. If you were to print more than one spool, youāre ahead ā and you still get all the functionality of 3DPrinterOS.
If youāre a 3DPrinterOS user, this is a no-brainer. If youāre not a subscriber, maybe you should consider joining.
