Titomic has taken another step into the United States.

The Australian company produces metal cold spray technology that is used for a variety of applications, including metal 3D printing. Their equipment is quite flexible, and can 3D print new objects, or repair existing metal objects.

The company has been aggressively marketing its products worldwide, particularly to the defence and aerospace sectors, which are known for their interest in metal 3D printing.

Earlier this year the company announced the acquisition of a massive facility in Alabama, which they intend to outfit as an “innovation centre” for their cold spray technology. The facility will provide R&D as well as production services for clients. In addition, I expect they will also use it as a demonstration center for their products to North American customers and prospects.

Now their American journey continues with a new arrangement with REPKON USA. If you’re not familiar with REPKON USA, they provide “turn key production plants for metal forming”. Customers can basically order a metal factory from REPKON USA, and be ready to go in short order. The company also produces their own metal forming equipment.

It turns out that REPKON USA is an investor in Titomic, which helps explain this partnership.

What will this partnership entail? Titomic explains:

”Under the agreement, Titomic and REPKON USA will engage in joint research, development, and testing of Titomic Kinetic Fusion™ applications in cannon barrels, gun barrels, and warheads. These applications will demonstrate the advantages Titomic Kinetic Fusion™ offers to the defense and aerospace markets in support of the U.S. Government, with potential for other applications.”

In addition, they will also provide metal repair services and barrel coatings to the military.

This is a very good step for Titomic. Given the new tariffs, it is increasingly difficult for companies based outside of the US to access the US market. By setting up a base of operations in Alabama, and partnering with a company with an extensive existing customer list, they should be in pretty good shape.
