We just bumped into this fascinating video which takes us briefly through the entire lifecycle of a 3D print process. In this case, the goal is a to produce a small pile of wrenches.

  • A wrench is designed on a CAD system
  • The CAD model is sent to the printer
  • The printer produces the objects (several in this print run)
  • Excess support material is removed with a chemical bath

If you need a video to explain 3D printing to unbelievers, this would be a good one to point them to.
