SolidSmack reports on CADHuman’s new posable 3D models, which are highly detailed 3D models that can be adjusted into various positions. This differs from the more common experience of non-posable models that invariably are not in the specific pose you need. The models currently include:

  • Male & female figures
  • Human male head
  • Posable hands
  • Male skeleton
  • Human heart
  • Teeth and gums

These high-quality models are not free; in fact, they are quite expensive, ranging from USD$99 for the Teeth to USD$599 for the Human Heart. They’re provided in several high-end 3D model formats, including Solidworks, Parasolid, IGES, STEP, ACIS and Rhino.

If you’ve got some cash and a 3D printer, this might be a great way to very quickly produce a very high-quality print of a unique shape.

  1. If you are designing products for people to use, then you need people the right size for your target market.

I've researched this thoroughly and used SolidWorks to make statistically accurate and fully poseable models.

They are not quite free, but at $99 they are very affordable… and you help use to support you to make more models. Already we do US, UK, Japanese and military sizes (based on leading published studies). We have also done children of many ages. You can find the US sizes here:

  2. Why purchase a model when you can get a complete plug-in for SolidWorks with models? This is a very precise, easy to use, solid human male and female 3D pose able figure that is anthropometrically correct. This thing even changes scale anywhere from 5th to 95th percentile with super precision!
