The Wohlers Quarterly AM report is now available.

Wohlers Associates has provided long term analysis of the additive manufacturing industry, and is best known for their huge and detailed annual report on the state of the industry. However, did you know they also publish a quarterly report? And it’s available at no charge.

This quarter’s report is mostly narrative, with several associated charts used to investigate different aspects of AM business. The report covers the latest trends, along with a look at the performance of publicly traded AM companies during the quarter.

The trends they investigate include the recent corporate consolidations that have occupied many of our pages over the past year, as well as the current state of digital inventory, military application expansion, competitive pressures and other matters. It’s a great read if you have an interest in where the biggest companies in the space are heading.

Some interesting tidbits I noticed in the report:

  • China has exported nearly three million desktop 3D printers in 2025 at an average cost of US$300. This is a 25% growth over last year
  • Wohlers strongly recommends that 3D printer manufacturers align with “regulated, performance critical sectors” to avoid commodity-based competition.
  • They see commodization of the titanium powder market, starting in China, with lower price points
  • Qualification protocols and procurement processes developed for military projects are now being used in other sectors

One very interesting item I noticed in the report was terminology. The report uses the term “additive construction” to differentiate it from “additive manufacturing”. “AC” could become a normal term in the industry, as construction is very different from manufacturing. However, the 3DCP term will likely stick, even though it references the concrete extrusion method.

You can pick up the report at Wohler Associates site at no charge — just “buy” it for zero dollars and you’ll get a copy.
