Cheers to a New Fabbaloo
Hi, I’m new here.
Long time listener, first time caller.
I’ve long been an admirer of Fabbaloo and its no-nonsense approach to 3D printing. Kerry Stevenson started this site back in 2007 as a labor of love, and his care and diligence have shown as Fabbaloo has grown through the last decade-plus to become a well-known industry resource offering thoughtful reporting and informed insights.
The site grew in 2014 with a new logo and a new business focus with the addition of Marney Stapley to the team heading up business operations.
Today bears witness to the next growth stage for Fabbaloo, with a relaunch unveiling the latest look -- and an expanded team.
I am joined today by fellow newcomer Emelia Nyarku, who will be working with Vice President of Business Development Marney as the Acquisition Sales Manager.
It is my absolute honor to take on the role of Managing Editor here at Fabbaloo, and I look forward to the next chapter in content operations.
For my part -- building upon a career path focused on words through work in industry analysis and forecasting, freelance editing, theatrical productions, and all sorts of odd jobs that typically accompany a bachelor’s degree in English -- I have been focused on the additive manufacturing industry since 2014. I joined the team at 3DPrint.com that autumn as an editor/writer, assuming the mantle of Editor-in-Chief of that site less than a year later. Working with that phenomenal team presented invaluable opportunities to dive into this dynamic industry; I so appreciate my tenure there and am delighted to see the site continue on its own growth trajectory. Earlier this summer, I tendered my resignation there to launch into the next stage of my work in 3D printing.
At the end of July, I launched my independent editorial services company, Additive Integrity LLC. Through this endeavor, I have already announced several partnerships with industry publications, in addition to work with several industry participants -- and today’s launch represents the public introduction of my primary focus with Additive Integrity via this partnership with Fabbaloo.
This month I journeyed north from my home base in Cleveland, Ohio, US to work directly with Kerry, Marney, and Emelia. During this time in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada I was delighted to discover the depth of our value alignment as we discussed the future of Fabbaloo.
What you can expect
You can expect Fabbaloo to continue onward in providing up-to-date information and analysis in 3D printing.
In anticipation of this relaunch, I have prepared an extensive series of interviews with industry insiders. We want you to hear about the industry from within, and interviews will be a regular feature here, starting tomorrow as this inaugural interview series kicks off with insights from more than 40 industry insiders (and counting).
Trade shows, conferences, summits, and symposia remain on our calendar, along with individual visits to manufacturing facilities, company headquarters, fablabs, and other locations as we look to be in the room where it happens. My passport is ready, and I’ll be taking off for events pretty immediately as the global 3D printing industry allows little time for rest.
We’ll keep up with the news, but we’re not a daily news site; we hope you’re not here looking for press releases. There are many excellent resources in this industry keeping up to date with the latest product introductions and installations. I’ve been very up front about my own views on collaboration versus competition, and we’re not looking to compete with the other guys. Very transparently, we’re here to be the best resource we can be -- and hopefully that’s one of many on your reading list.
We’re also here to have some fun. Behind these computer screens and press badges, we’re people who genuinely love what we do.
What you shouldn’t expect
The team has doubled now, but that doesn’t mean the Fabbaloo you knew and loved is gone. We’re growing, and that’s a good thing!
You won’t see regurgitated press releases here. Everything at Fabbaloo will include exclusive insights, analysis, and, as often as possible, direct industry input.
We’re offering an expanded, new and improved media kit, including for the first time ever the option for sponsored articles -- but these will make up a small minority of the content you see each week. We’re not selling out, we just also like to buy groceries and keep operations running.
We’re deeply committed to driving this industry forward with integrity and optimism. To that end, you shouldn’t expect to see hype here, or negativity. We’re not getting into debates, no matter how many other headlines they dominate, about unrealistic hype that doesn’t do anyone any good.
It’s a new dawn; it’s a new day; it’s a new life -- and I’m feeling good.
We’re looking forward to a strong future together -- together as a now four-strong team, and together as a global community.
