This week’s selection is the incredible Valkyrie Costume Armor Set DIY Kit by Cults contributor PROPSMAKER.

This is a cosplay outfit kit for the Valkyrie character in the Marvel superhero universe. In the movies, Valkyrie is played by actress Tessa Thompson.

This is one of the most comprehensive models we’ve selected for Design of the Week, as it involves plenty of parts and requires laser cutting as well as 3D printing. It’s going to be quite a project to complete, as you can see from the images.

Along with the 3D models required for printing are extensive instructions on how to build the entire costume. These include patterns for laser cutting, for example.

One part of the costume does not have a pattern, and that’s the leather part that attaches to the body. The reason for the lack of a pattern is that it will depend completely on the dimensions and geometry of the wearer. However, PROPSMAKER explained:

“There’s no pattern available since it depends on each person’s body, but you’ll be able to see how I made it in the images. It’s made of two long leather straps, like a backpack, that go across your torso. It attaches around the stomach using the belt. There are leather straps around the waist that connect to the front under the buckle.”

There are quite a few input materials required for this project, including flexible water pipe, leather, aluminum, waxed thread, foam sheets, and even chainmail. However, those who want this costume will certainly be able to obtain anything necessary to complete the project.

PROPSMAKER doesn’t hint at the amount of time and effort required to complete this costume, but it’s certainly going to be considerable.

The project, including files and instructions, is available for paid download on Cults for the price of US$130.
