The Big List of 3D Model Sites, 2026

Let’s take an inventory of all the places you can find 3D models.

Finding a 3D model has never been easier — or harder — depending on how you look at the dozens of places online today.

Printable 3D model repositories have been around for quite a long time, starting with Thingiverse in 2009. It was created to accompany MakerBot’s new desktop 3D printer, providing buyers with stuff to print.

That equation still holds today: all 3D printer operators are looking for quality 3D models to print and there is no shortage of options to find them these days.

In the old days you’d be able to just say, a “3D model site”, but today it’s a bit different. There are many different kinds of sites, all using different business models. Some are free, some are commercial, some are CAD, some are niche, etc.

I’ve decided to split the site inventory into six categories (well, seven if you count the excluded category):

Independent Repositories & Marketplaces — General-purpose platforms where designers upload, share, sell or give away models intended primarily for 3D printing. These are the closest modern equivalents to the original Thingiverse-style repository.

Manufacturer Model Ecosystems — Model platforms operated by 3D printer manufacturers and increasingly integrated with their slicers, printers, print profiles and cloud services. They turn model discovery into part of the printer company’s broader software ecosystem.

Specialist & Institutional Collections — Repositories focused on a particular field, subject or community, such as medicine, museums, fossils, RC vehicles, tabletop gaming or collectibles. Their narrower focus often results in unusually deep collections within a specific niche.

Engineering, Component & CAD Libraries — Sources of dimensionally accurate CAD models, industrial components and assemblies rather than hobby-oriented printable objects. These are especially useful when designing functional parts around real-world hardware such as bearings, fasteners, fittings or automation components.

3D Model Search Engines & Aggregators — Services that index models stored across multiple repositories and marketplaces, allowing users to search a much larger universe without visiting each source individually. They generally point users back to the original host rather than serving as the primary repository.

Generative & Custom Model Creation — Tools that create new 3D geometry from prompts, images, parameters or interactive customization instead of requiring users to find an existing model. Generative AI is rapidly expanding this category, although generated geometry is not always immediately suitable for 3D printing.

General-Purpose 3D Asset Services — Excluded — Large marketplaces and libraries aimed primarily at games, animation, rendering, visualization, AR/VR or digital artwork. They may contain printable geometry, but 3D printing is not central enough to their purpose to include them in the main repository list.

• Thangs — Large 3D-printing community and marketplace offering downloadable models, creator subscriptions, physical prints and sophisticated model search.
• Pinshape — Long-running 3D-printing community offering downloadable free and premium printable models from independent designers.
• Redpah — Independent marketplace for downloadable 3D-printable models, with free and commercial designs.
• Threeding — Marketplace established specifically for buying, selling and exchanging downloadable 3D-printable models.
• FAB365 — Curated commercial printable-model library known for elaborate models engineered to print flat, fold or assemble.
• STLFLIX — Subscription-based library offering a large proprietary catalog of printable models.
• 3DShook — Curated subscription-oriented library of printable designs rather than an open user-upload repository.

• Printables — Prusa Research — Prusa’s large community repository of printable models, contests, designer rewards and printer-ready files, while remaining broadly useful with non-Prusa hardware.
• Creality Cloud — Creality — Creality’s integrated repository and community combines models with slicing, printer control and other cloud 3D-printing functions.
• MakerOnline — Anycubic — Anycubic’s model-sharing ecosystem provides downloadable printable designs and printer-oriented model information.
• Nexprint — ELEGOO — ELEGOO’s maker platform provides free printable models and increasing integration with one-click printing on supported machines.
• PIXUP — Phrozen — Phrozen-backed marketplace specializing heavily in premium and free printable collectibles, miniatures and character models.

• Tripo AI — Generative 3D service converting text or images into downloadable 3D meshes, including STL output suitable for subsequent preparation and printing.
• Rodin / Hyper3D — Generative system producing detailed 3D models from text and images with STL among its export formats.
