Joris didn’t take long to get things going in his new role at Materialise – he’s announced a new 3D design contest sponsored by i.Materialise and Google Sketchup. The challenge is to create the most beautiful 3D printed lamp, which we think will certainly generate some very interesting entries, because illuminated 3D models always look way cooler than not. It’s true and you know it!

The best three designs will be printed and delivered to their respective designers, and the best design (as determined by a joint team of Google-Materialise judges) will also score a Google Sketchup Pro v8 license! The contest is open now and closes 10 October 2010.
