The Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association is promoting, developing, and helping the additive manufacturing industry to grow as a more sustainable manufacturing suite.

What Is The AGMTA?

Launched in November 2019, the Additive Manufacturer Green Trade Association (AMGTA) is a nonprofit group founded with the goal of promoting the environmental benefits of additive manufacturing to key industries as well as the general public.

A few of the most prominent advantages that the AMGTA seeks to make the public aware of are how additive manufacturing produces significantly less waste, is more efficient than conventional manufacturing, and offers greater precision and uniformity.

Executive Director Sherry Handel is “an award-winning leader focused on making a meaningful impact through non-profit management, entrepreneurship, and volunteering”. She was also the co-founder and former COO of Energy Harvesters LLC, a clean-tech startup.

All in all, this trade group speaks on behalf of the positive environmental impacts of additive manufacturing and many of its members are prominent companies in the profession.

AMGTA Member Companies

As of October 21st, the AMGTA announced that 12 leading AM companies across 8 countries have been welcomed into the organization.

These participating companies include founding members as well as newly announced participating members. AMGTA co-founding members include:

  • Sintavia : an additive manufacturing company that focuses on the aerospace, defense, and space industries — Sintavia launched AMGTA at Formnext 2019
  • Taiyo Nippon Sanso: a company that supplies stable industrial gases to industries worldwide
  • QC Laboratories a testing laboratory focused on AM components

These co-founders are expected to play a significant role in deciding the path that the AMGTA will continue to take, considering and voting on potential research projects, and overseeing the strategic processes of the organization.

Other companies are also joining this organization as participating member companies.  These companies include:

  • AMEXCI: a company that plays a role in accelerating the movement towards AM in Nordic industries
  • Danish AM Hub: a landmark in Denmark’s AM community
  • EOS: a leader in the technology supply industry in terms of industrial metal and polymer 3D printing
  • GE Additive: a leader in AM and manufacturing
  • Materialise: a 30-year-old company with an extensive portfolio of software solutions and 3D printing services
  • The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland: a group of manufacturing research and development facilities encouraging skills, productivity, and innovation
  • Siemens Digital Industries Software: a prominent figure in the 3D printing industry, known for their engineering, manufacturing, and design contributions
  • SLM Solutions: a prominent figure focusing on metal AM and multi-laser technologies.
  • Stryker: a company focused on medical technology and its applications

A Few Words

These are companies with a common mission.  They want to get 3D printing recognized for its worth and the best way to do that is to show the broader manufacturing world just what they’re missing out on.  Obviously, the goal of most companies is to make as much profit as possible for the work that they put in.  3D printing ensures that they don’t have to do time-consuming, laborious work that costs a lot of money and ends up producing tons of waste.

This team is dedicated to bringing 3D printing to light by growing their organization with more globally involved members to send 3D printing to all the corners of this planet.

“I’m delighted to welcome each of these esteemed founding members and participating member companies to the AMGTA,” Handel says.

“Their commitment not only to support the mission of our new trade group, but also their passion for sustainability, well positions the AMGTA to serve as a key industry resource in advancing sustainability in the AM industry. I am looking forward to working with each of our member companies as we embark on this exciting and important journey together.”

She’s not the only one.  At Fabbaloo, our goal is to analyze 3D printing news across the world for as many people as possible and as we share a similar mission, I am looking forward to seeing more from this budding new organization.
