3D printed ice cream cone towel hooks [Source: MakerWorld]

This week’s selection is the Ice Cream Towel Hook by MakerWorld contributor Stag 3D.

This item is exactly what it looks like: a colourful ice cream cone that acts as a towel hook.

What attracts me to this model is its realism and shock value. The cone in particular should be easily made real if you have colour-matched filament, and could even fool someone at first glance. The drippy ice cream can take advantage of all the brilliant colours that are now available, although white will work very well, too.

These can be easily mounted by sliding them over a not-quite-flush screw in the wall. While you could line up several of these, it is probably better to position them randomly. That could add to the “story” of someone tossing cones at the wall.

That’s what’s most interesting about this model: it tells a short story just by looking at it. Brilliant!

The model is available at no charge on MakerWorld, and is easy to print in two parts. This means it would be possible to print these in two jobs and completely avoid any poop generated during filament swaps. The recommended job, shown above, is not recommended because it will waste a staggering amount of material and take far, far longer to complete.

Let’s get those cones pasted to the wall!
